The Internet is Tumblr

Everyone has their go to sites they must visit when Internet browsing- maybe the weather, news, and email. Welcome to your new hobby, Tumblr. Tumblr advertises it self as the easiest blog you could ever make, and it's true! Tumblr is my and everyone's Internet "addiction" just click on the thirty reasons you'll love Tumblr to see. The system is similar to Twitter in the way that you can follow people that you share similar interests in ranging from personal rantings to Harry Potter to chemistry lovers there is literally a Tumblr for everyone to follow. It is an interesting and fresh way to get to know someone, you can see their interests and find people who you share similarities with. Let them know you enjoy their postings by "liking" them or reblogging with your own comments. Visiting Tumblr is defiantely a time consuming task, anyone who has one could tell you it is their number one Internet distraction, more so than Facebook- believe it or not. Many people from the Tumblr world would tell you they prefer it to Facebook and even look down upon it as a lesser site. To really understand what I mean you'd need to start one up or possibly get to know it through my Tumblr, just try not to judge it too harshly.

My Love of Music

In previous years my favorite sound recording would have been The Strokes or some other rock album but this year I seriously got into Hip-Hop/ Rap and that is when I feel in love with Kanye West newest album, My Dark Twister Fantasy. Yes, I do think Kanye is a pretentious jerk but his music is constantly evolving and I respect his talent, which was strongly showcased in this album. Depending on what you consider old enough, The Velvet Underground's Who Loves The Sun is my current favorite oldie. It's beat and sound is pretty happy but the lyrics are more melancholy which is ironic and enjoyable. I first heard this through mp3 recording on my computer, as most all my music.

Wizarding Weekly

This will be an all Wizarding world magazine where fans can come and let their mind explore the possibilities beyond what was already written and start imagining their own stories and reading others too. Focusing more on the books, characters, and wonder of the world J.K Rowling has created instead of the actors and their lives. This magazine will range from the youngest readers to the oldest, Harry Potter  has a huge range of readers. There are many fan sites devoted to all things Harry Potter, and this magazine will of course include the general information everyone is looking for but it will focus more on stories written by people inspired from the Harry Potter series and expanding more on it. There are other personal websites for people to post their written fiction, but in this magazine more people will be reached and be more appealing, visually. You get a different feeling from opening up a magazine sent personally to you instead of an Internet site. Harry Potter fan sites would be interested in advertising on my site. Also Harry Potter memorabilia sites, quidditch sporting events, colleges focusing in aspiring writers etc. The articles will of course feature new stories written but submitters and/or a team of writers for the magazine. A piece on J.K's new encyclopedia book coming out, discussing her future in the writers world. Quizzes, testing how much of a fan you really are. Twilight and Harry Potter, how much they are not alike. J.K Rowling interview, focusing on how functional her wizarding world really is. Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows - Part 2, will it live up to the book? The cover of the magazine will vary from each month, featuring anything Harry Potter related, from artist submission to movie clips.

J.K Rowling changed my life.

Just the idea of writing about books has made me excited! Reading is such a unique way to enter a different world, it stimulates the mind in such a personal way. The most influencial books, or more like a book series, for me has been J.K Rowling's the Harry Potter series. This fantasy world has been created so intelligently, you just fall in love with it. She has anyone reading it deeply invested with each character. Just the way she told the story, I couldn't stop reading. The third, fifth, and the seventh are my favorite books at the moment but it varies on my mood. Each book uncovers a new part of the mystery and I am always excited to read them even, after ten + years of Harry Potter.

Media

I haven't always realized the strong relationship between me and the media. My mother always made it a point to read me books and take me to libraries, books have been influencing my life for nineteen years. Each book helped me escape to other worlds and I've been fond of them ever since. I don't believe I've ever been much of a writer, I'm much more rather an appreciator of books. The newspaper to me has always been seen as a grown up form of reading, seeing that the world is made up of so much more than your own life. To be honest I didn't put much importance on the newspaper till recent years. In high school I was obsessed with fashion magazines and I would make such an effort to stay informed in their society. Over time it became a luxury that overtime I didn't care for much or have time, so my connection with magazines ends there. Ah the movies, I love them so. So many different types of film exist and I have indulged in many of them. The film business has peaked my interests a lot and would love to learn more about it. Recordings, besides some audio books I have heard I haven't had much experience with recordings. Voice and character seem to be really the key point to making a good audio book. The radio and I have a bittersweet relationship. I spend most of the time positively annoyed at its repetitive narrow sounds, but most times forced to listened to it. To me, it has really lost any genuine feel. Television, seems to be the second most popular form of media, next to the Internet. I honestly don't spend to much time watching live television, I stick with movies and DVD of seasons that I love. I am pretty disconnected with the television. The biggest media for me personally is the Internet, my life doesn't function without it. It's in my daily life most of the time. From this one super media I can receive all of the other media types and I am sinfully addicted.

A job in the media doesn't really interest me, I do enjoy the psychological aspects of the media and its influences. That is where my major comes in, psychology. I've never lived in another country but I have grown up in a Hispanic culture, so I have been influenced by other countries media. It's a bit louder.
